“Their singing is fiercely beautiful and bravely, utterly exposed.”
Roomful of Teeth is a GRAMMY-winning vocal project dedicated to reimagining the expressive potential of the human voice. Through study with masters from vocal traditions the world over, the eight-voice ensemble continually expands its vocabulary of singing techniques. They build upon this through an ongoing commissioning process, forging a new repertoire without borders. The project’s debut album, Roomful of Teeth, was called “sensually stunning,” by The New York Times, and topped the classical charts on iTunes and Amazon. Their recording of “Partita for 8 Voices” won composer and ensemble member Caroline Shaw a Pulitzer Prize in 2013, making her the youngest ever recipient of the prize. Exploring a bold sonic palette of speech, sighs, whispers, throat singing, and more, Roomful of Teeth is one of the most impressive and in-demand vocal groups on the planet.
