Hailed for their “ensemble playing at an unobtrusively superhuman level” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer), the highly technical, joyfully musical Danish Quartet stands out in a golden age of young string quartets. Having received the Carl Nielsen Prize, Denmark’s highest cultural honor, the four musicians have performed throughout Europe, and are rapidly collecting rave reviews among American critics. They present a program inspired by folk music, featuring Bartók, Beethoven, and the quartet’s own critically-acclaimed Nordic arrangements, “buffed and polished to a concert-hall sheen” (Gramophone).
